Bucari, a cloudy treat

Bucari,  a little town nestled at the top of the mountains. From a very tropical country, there are a few places in the Philippines where you can get most of the cold weather, or a chilly weather, I must say.  It is also known as the Vegetable Bowl of the West, thanks to their weather; the town’s agriculture has been paying off the simple lives of the people here. Living in the west part of the Philippines, I see sand and beaches as the most abundant sites and places to go to, and hiking in Bucari’s mountains and nature is a good change of adventure and relaxation.

As I was googling one dull afternoon, the search words were nature hike, quiet place in iloilo, etc., all nature words and quiet words I can think of. Then came across Bucari, Leon. At first glance, I said, Perfect! I typed the next word to Google, and the Amazing Grace Resort popped up in the results.

Then the rest is history, as they say. A solo trip for a start as planned, went into a duo-unplanned trip, one wandering soul tagged along and it was the best adventure to start for this journey of mine. I would suggest skipping the adventure after the day of arrival at the resort, being ready to recharge, and just giving yourself time for some quiet and peace. A hammock on the top of the mountains or camping out with a tent out of your room to watch the stars at night.

Staying in the most spartan accommodation but with the friendliest owner (Tita Bernadeth)  and the tour guide that helped us (Melai) was worth a visit for this very homey place. Imagine having your breakfast overlooking the foggy mountains. They also breed their native chicken, all vegetables from their garden, and all in one place upon waking up. We even took some vegetables back home to the city.

The scenery was refreshing from the busy and hustling life in the city. Bucari is a breather. Transportation from the main town is a famous jeepney ride, where you join locals with their freshest vegetables and greens to transport to nearby towns. They also have motorcycles, and if you are up for an adrenaline rush, hitch a motorbike for a bumpy ride and tour around the mountains. Mind you the road are untouched so be ready for humping and bouncing. Walk through their Man-made bridge or cross the river and dip to their cold waterfalls.

The overall experience was nothing but refreshing. After nature has served and fed your soul, stop by any local vendor selling vegetables as a simple thank-you gesture.

I posted the link to my album and the resort below for full photos. 🙂 🙂

To more journey and learning.. God speed.
