There is more to Pattaya, Thailand

The City of Pattaya, known for its long-stretched beaches, is about 150 km southeast of Bangkok.

Pattaya is known for its interesting nightlife, but there is more to it, especially for families that want to get away from Bangkok and see the country.  It offers a colorful nightlife. If going to the beach is not a thing, Pattaya offers history, stunning sights, and views. To celebrate my dad and sister’s birthday, we rented a private van for the other side’s convenience and went on a day trip to my parents’ convenience in the southeast.

First Stop: 1. Buddha Mountain…

This 130-meter high and 70-meter wide Buddha image carved on the rock offers a stunning view, making it one of the world’s most significant images of Buddha. Surrounded by beautiful landscapes, several signs in the English language provide information about the place’s history.

How to get there: Located 15 km south of Pattaya, if you don’t have a private vehicle, there is Songthaew or taxis that can take you there, but you need to negotiate with the price, or better negotiate for a full day service as there are a lot of places to drop by around the Buddha Mountain. Admission is free, so it is worth a visit. Opens at 8am and closes at 5pm.

Visitors can tour the place by riding the enormous electric tram, which stops at different spots for photos. Once you show up, the ride can start anytime, taking about 30-45 minutes.

You can buy from their shops, as they grow several red and white grape varieties. They also sell jams, grape pie, and snacks.

How to get there: Nong Nooch Garden is almost 20 kilometers south of  Pattaya.

You can hire a Songtaew bus to get there. The bus is a converted pickup truck with covered seats in the back, but it is open and does not have air conditioning. The price depends on your negotiating skills. Alternatively, you can take a taxi for a more comfortable ride. Before you leave, make sure you agree on the price.

We left Bangkok at 6:00 a.m. and stopped by Chok Chai Steakhouse for lunch. The steak is gorgeous, as the owners breed their own cows on the farm. It is a must to visit and try their mouthwatering food.
